Wine Regions of the World

A relatively short while ago, the only world important wine regions were the Old World countries with long traditions of winemaking, such as France, Italy, Spain and Germany. However, this all changed in the 1970s when the New World countries challenged the old guard with their innovative ideas and bright, fresh, modern interpretations of the classic wines of Europe.
Australia and California headed up this band of challengers, and were soon joined by New Zealand, Chile, Argentina and South Africa. These days, tradition and innovation now go hand in hand throughout the world of wine.
